How does Iago use Venice’s cultural prejudices to turn Othello against himself? We will do a close analysis of the “temptation scene” (III. iii. 90-253) to discuss the way that Iago uses Othello’s internalized racism to persuade him of his wife’s infidelity. We will also consider how later criticism has picked up on the language of racism in Othello.
