This podcast examines the expectations and generic features of gothic villains. It will reference and investigate Faustus, Shakespeare’s plays (e.g. Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet), Carter’s The Bloody Chamber, Frankenstein, the recent Batman trilogy and the Underworld films. It will ask the question of how the lines between hero(ine)/villain, good/evil, nomos/anomos are blurred and/or challenged?Tutors:
