The Soldier by Rupert Brooke looks the period of innocence and optimism before the awful reality of World War One unfolded. In this podcast we analyse the context of when this was written, looking at the optimism many young soldiers felt fighting for their country. We examine the structure and form of the poem to help emphasise this feeling and the what this potential sacrifice means.
