In this tutorial, we look at the context of A Christmas Carol, including What are the religious and other relevant social contexts and how can you use them in your writing? We look at the contrast between Christian values with the selfish behaviour of the middle classes who regularly behaved in selfish ways and had decidedly unChristian attitudes towards those worse off than them. Link Bentham and Malthus; prisons, Poor Law. We also examine the definition of context and ways of integrating to support analytical points.
