Key context and background. To understand the knowledge of the Medieval medical world we need to look back to the developments of classical Greece and Rome. Hippocrates and Galen go head to head to determine who should be named the Father of medicine. Although outside the time period, a look back at the medicine of the Ancient Romans and Greece will enable an understanding of ideas that lingered for centuries.
