There are essentially 3 key reasons why the war at sea was so very significant. Firstly it was critical due to the nature and effects of the Allied Blockade of Germany. Secondly it was important because of the consequences of the Battle of Jutland in 1916. Thirdly and finally the war under the sea was truly significant due to the major effects of the German submarine Campaign. We discuss these 3 reasons.
