There are different strands of the Christian church all over the world. But are they all the same? What is the importance for Christians of the worldwide church? We look at 'ecumenism', which means encouraging cooperation and understanding between different Christian churches, the understanding of the term ‘church’ in spiritual and temporal terms, churches as individual communities, the work of the World Council of Churches, the work of ecumenical communities such as Taize, Iona, Corrymeela and the ‘Churches Together’ movement. Phew!
