M.A., CPPA

International Education Consultant, English Teacher
St Albans School

Mark is an English teacher with 25 years of experience teaching at secondary level and 15 as a Head of English. He has published resources for OUP and OCR, is a senior examiner and coursework moderator for both GCSE and IGCSE and has been closely involved in developing new qualifications. He has trained Literature teachers and English departments both in the UK and overseas from Nairobi to Astana. He was a Research Scholar at Trinity College Cambridge specialising in Romantic literature, and recently completed a Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Assessment. His passion lies communicating the skills needed for young people to explore great literature and achieve exam success. Literature opens doors to a much wider cultural world, and enables higher order critical thinking. It can also inspire students to become creative writers themselves. Many of Mark’s students have gone to become high-achieving Literature students. Outside the classroom, Mark enjoys walking, old buildings, theatre, music and local politics.
