Romeo learns of Juliet’s death. In this tutorial we examine the significance of Juliet’s apparent death for Romeo, including analysis of Romeo’s reaction and especially his soliloquy and analysis of his conversation with the poor apothecary. We return to theme of fate/coincidences (e.g. if the apothecary were not poor, he would not have accepted Romeo’s money for the poison) and “I defy you stars.”
