Onions, onions, onions! Or maybe just one. In this analysis of "Valentine" by Carol Ann Duffy, Duffy explains that by giving an onion as a Valentine's gift, it's actually a lot more meaningful than just automatically grabbing a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers, like everyone else. We look at how she uses language, structure and form and the context in which it is written to show why an onion can be romantic!
