This tutorial examines the key questions of how does Steinbeck present the death of Curley’s wife and why does George act in the way he does at the end of the novel? It summarises the chapter, examines the themes of loneliness, friendship, hopes and dreams and violence. It presents the character of Curley’s wife; analysing the reactions of the ranch workers to her death and George’s ‘act of kindness’. The setting looks at cyclical structure.
